The Handmade Industries Insurance Program

If you are in the handmade beauty products industry, and are looking for affordable General and Product Liability Insurance, you found it! With very few insurance companies having a real understanding of the beauty products industry, companies and individuals were having a difficult time finding cost-effective insurance options. In 2006 Veracity Insurance Solutions was contacted by The Handcrafted Soapmakers Guild and The Indie Beauty Network to create a product liability insurance program for their members. Members of those associations ended up saving big on their insurance costs through Veracity’s custom-designed program.

Program Qualifications:

• 80% of your product must be handmade. "Handmade" (or "handcrafted") means you either made your product from scratch by hand, someone under your control made the product from scratch by hand or you purchased the unscented and/or uncolored product in bulk and added your own scent, color, and/or other additive to distinguish it in your line of products. If 80% or more of your products are "handcrafted" within this definition, then they qualify for coverage under this policy. Products that are made for you by an outside company and which you purchase packaged and ready to go, do not qualify as handcrafted.
• Become a Member of HSMG or IBN

• Soaps
• Hand & Body Lotions
• Facial & Body Creams
• Natural Cosmetics
• Lip Balms
• Bath Salts
• Essential Oils
• Body Powders
• Hair Care Products
• Perfume & Body Fragrances
• Handmade Beauty Accessories
• Topical Products for Animals (shampoos, ointments, etc.)

• $1,000,000 or $2,000,000 in coverage limits available
• Optional Professional Liability Endorsement for Teachers
• Additional Insured Vendors Endorsements
• Inland Marine Coverage Included
• No Liability Deductible
• Tradeshow Coverage
